SUSTAIN developed innovative technologies for smart buildings that adapt to occupants' daily sentiment and well-being. The project combined emotion AI, edge computing, and federated learning to create privacy-preserving intelligent building systems that enhance occupant comfort and energy efficiency.
My Contribution (WP3): Led Work Package 3 on Federated Learning and Edge AI. Developed communication-efficient federated learning algorithms optimised for resource-constrained IoT devices in smart building environments. This work formed the core of my PhD thesis: "Communication-Efficient Federated Learning for Resource-Constrained Edge Environments."
Wuhan University, China
Supervisor: Prof. Xiaohui Cui · January – June 2019
Developed an innovative blockchain-based platform for educational certificate validation, ensuring tamper-proof credential verification using distributed ledger technology. Completed as part of the Master's thesis in Software Engineering.
University of Sindh, Pakistan · SUPARCO Collaboration
Collaboration: Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) · January – December 2014
Conducted optimisation analysis of satellite-to-earth station communication links using Systems Tool Kit (STK). Collaborated with SUPARCO to improve link budget calculations and signal quality predictions for satellite communications. Completed as part of the Bachelor's thesis in Telecommunication.
